The First Annual Glass Only show opened at Coast Collective Gallery at Havenwood at Esquimalt Lagoon yesterday. Hats off to Debbie Jansen who has brought together over 15 glass artists in every form of the medium of glass. I think the show now features the work of 20 artists, but every time I check back to the website, another one is added.
Glass is such a wonderful medium, it reflects, refracts, glows and changes with both natural and artificial light. As an art form it just gives the beholder something extra, a whimsical glint, a shadow of colour spilling across a floor or table. It is truly unique and those who love glass understand my words, and if you haven't looked at art glass before, this would be a wonderful time to explore if you're in the Victoria, BC area.
Coast Collective Gallery hours are Wednesdays to Sundays from 12 to 5 pm. I'll be there for the
Meet the Artist afternoon taking place Saturday September 10th from 2 to 4 pm.
Come wind your way through the beautiful forest of the Havenwood property and cross over stone bridges until you find your way to Pendray House, whose windows overlook the Esquimalt Lagoon and Bird Sanctuary. You'll be wanting your camera.
